The heart of Being Alive Counseling is to journey with you through everyday issues, as well as deeper addictions and trials, towards wholeness and healing. 

Counseling is not ultimately about fixing all of our problems. The beauty of life is in the process. Oftentimes particular issues or struggles exist and can endure for much of our lives. There is no shame in this. We feel the tension between wanting full freedom, and knowing that in this life will will never be without hardship. Whatever is making you believe that life is not good (be it depression, life transition, a trauma, marital problems), Being Alive Counseling believes you can return to your source of joy.

In technical terms, therapy will draw from our interpretation of the following psychological frameworks and interventions: Narrative (we each have a unique story built from events, people, and lessons learned), Psychodynamic (our past influences our present reality), and R.E.B.T. (our thoughts, actions, and emotions are extremely intertwined). Until we have named and processed these storylines, oftentimes we feel life is happening to to us out of our control. 

What this means for you: sometimes in your session we will go into the past with hopes of bringing peace into hurting places. Sometimes we will focus on life here and now helping to create choice and freedom in places you feel stuck. I also have spiritual training and our therapy can be done with that sense if you so desire.
